Excavation in Christchurch

Before any fence goes up straight or any patio sits level, the ground has to be cut to the right height. Our excavation work is residential-scale digger work: the red mini excavator in our photos grading a corridor between townhouses, a worker walking the grade beside it, the ute and trailer staged to keep the run clear.

What we do

• Site cuts and levels — ground worked to height for patios, paths, lawns and fence lines.
• Digger grading between builds — tracked machine access down narrow townhouse corridors and driveways.
• Channel and trench digging — cuts for the drainage channels and sumps our site-prep jobs depend on.
• Site scrapes — topsoil and construction mess stripped back to a clean working surface.

Small machine, tight sites

A mini digger fits where truckAppointed gear cannot: down the side of a new build, between two units going up together, along a driveway with a trailer parked at the head. Our photos show exactly that — the machine tracking a muddy site with trucks staged around it, and a finished grade walked by hand to check it. Tight access is normal work for us, not a problem to solve.

Levels you can build on

Excavation is only good if the next trade can use it. We cut to the levels the concrete, drainage and lawn stages need — falls away from foundations, channel grades that actually run to the sump, fence lines cleared of roots and rubble. That is the difference between a scrape that looks flat and a formation that builds flat, and it is why our digger work and our site preparation usually happen as one job.

From dirt to done in one crew

Because we also pour the concrete and build the fences, the excavation gets cut with the finished job in mind — nothing over-dug, nothing left for someone else to interpret. If your section needs opening up and finishing off, one message covers the lot.
